Lakeville Elementary School earns Apple Distinguished School recognition

Lakeville Elementary School has earned national recognition for its approach to integrating technology into classroom instruction while maintaining a balance between digital and traditional learning. The Great Neck Public Schools announced that Lakeville was named an Apple Distinguished School for the 2026-2029 program term. The school joins four other district elementary schools — E.M. Baker, John F. Kennedy, Parkville and Saddle Rock — that have earned the distinction. Lakeville Principal Emily Zucal said the school emphasizes purposeful technology use to improve student engagement, support well-being and deepen understanding. “At Lakeville, we are very intentional in making sure that students have a balance of digital and non-digital learning experiences,” Zucal said. “Our goal is to not simply use technology more, but to use it well.” The school uses Apple products, one-to-one devices and other instructional platforms to support that approach, she said.
