ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Buffalo Bills money line on Draft Kings for their game against Baltimore on Sunday is -170, as of Thursday morning. Those unfamiliar with sports betting, that means the Bills have a solid chance of winning. If a fan placed a $100 bet and the Bills do win, they d cash out with $158 and some change. Would you really cash out, or would you use those winnings to continue placing bets? In New York State, the average bet is $42, and the average amount spent by online sports bettors is $3,500 annually. The state Comptroller released a report on sports wagering. One finding? Calls to the state gambling hotline are up 8.5% from 2020 to 2025. Dr. Chinazo Cunningham, Commissioner of the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) sat down with our Brett Davidsen for this week s News10: Beyond The Headlines podcast. The two discussed recognizing when sports gambling becomes a problem, the danger of bets with immediate responses, and what OASAS is doing
