Prepare for elevated fire danger in Sullivan County until Friday morning — Larchmont Community news

A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 1:53 p.m. for elevated fire danger until Friday at 6 a.m. for Sullivan County."The combination of dry fuels, gusty northwest winds to 30 mph, and minimum relative humidity values of 40 to 45% will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread for Sullivan County. The lowest relative humidity and strongest wind gusts are expected during the late morning to mid afternoon hours on Friday. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose of cigarette butts," according to the weather service.
