Teen murder trial: Accused killer takes the stand — Larchmont Health news

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (WNYT)- Raymond Wright Jr., the on again, off again boyfriend of Samantha Humphrey took the stand Thursday afternoon in Schenectady County Court in his defense. Wright, 18, is accused of killing Humphrey when the two were 14 years old. The prosecution claims Wright killed Humphrey on November 25, 2022, after the two met late that evening. Wright s defense attorney argues that Humphrey had a history of mental health issues and committed suicide. On the stand under questioning by his attorney, Peter Lynch, Wright says he and Humphrey got into a physical fight. She came closer to me and that led me to push her in the river, Wright said. She pushed me in the river first. When asked why Wright didn t tell police he and Humphrey went by the water he said it was because he was scared. Wright said he didn t tell police what happened between him and Humphrey because he was afraid they would accuse him of something he didn t do. I was bullied as a kid.
